A hard-fought victory over Borussia Dortmund
Goals from Carvajal and Vinicius Jr. secure the win
Real Madrid were crowned champions of Europe for a 15th time at Wembley on Saturday night, after a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund. Second-half goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jr. proved enough to secure the victory for the Spanish giants.
Real Madrid dominated the first half but failed to find a breakthrough, with Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr. both coming close. However, they would not be denied in the second half, as Carvajal opened the scoring with a well-taken goal in the 55th minute.
Vinicius Jr. then sealed the victory with a stunning strike in the 72nd minute, securing Real Madrid's 15th Champions League title and their third in a row.
Borussia Dortmund put up a valiant effort, but were ultimately outclassed by a Real Madrid side that was simply too strong on the night. The German side can be proud of their performance this season, but will be disappointed not to have come away with at least a point.
Real Madrid's victory is a testament to their incredible consistency and their ability to win big games. They have now won four of the last five Champions League titles, and will be looking to add to their tally next season.
