British-Born Star Appeared in 'Star Trek' and 'Charlie's Angels'

Ireland, who chronicled her battle with breast cancer in a best-selling book, died of cancer.

Jill Ireland, the actress who married Charles Bronson and costarred with him in numerous films, died of cancer Saturday in Malibu. She was 54.

Ireland, who was born in London, made her film debut in 1955. She appeared in more than 50 films, including "Charlie's Angels," "The Poseidon Adventure," and "The Towering Inferno." She also had a recurring role on the television series "Mission: Impossible."

In 1987, Ireland was diagnosed with breast cancer. She wrote about her battle with cancer in a best-selling book, "Life Lines." In the book, Ireland chronicles her diagnosis, treatment, and the challenges she faced along the way.

Ireland's husband, Charles Bronson, said in a statement that he was "heartbroken" by her death. "Jill was my best friend, my lover, and my soulmate," he said.

Ireland is survived by her husband and two children.
