Kevin Kiermaier signs with Toronto Blue Jays

Blue Jays add veteran outfielder to their roster

Kiermaier signs one-year, $10.5 million contract

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed outfielder Kevin Kiermaier to a one-year, $10.5 million contract, the team announced on Thursday. Kiermaier is a three-time Gold Glove winner who has spent his entire career with the Tampa Bay Rays.

The 32-year-old Kiermaier is coming off a season in which he hit .228 with nine home runs and 42 RBIs in 133 games. He is a strong defender who is known for his speed and athleticism. Kiermaier will join a Blue Jays outfield that already includes George Springer and Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

The Blue Jays are hoping that Kiermaier can help them improve their defense and provide some pop in the middle of their lineup. Kiermaier is a career .248 hitter with 110 home runs and 478 RBIs in 1,033 games.

The signing of Kiermaier is the latest move by the Blue Jays to improve their team for the 2023 season. The team has also added shortstop Matt Chapman and catcher Danny Jansen in recent weeks.
