Fiona Bruce steps down from Alzheimer's Society role

Presenter says she wants to focus on Question Time

Bruce has been an ambassador for the charity since 2012

Question Time host Fiona Bruce has stepped down from her role as an ambassador for the Alzheimer's Society.

Bruce, 58, has been an ambassador for the charity since 2012. She said she was stepping down to focus on her role as host of Question Time.

In a statement, Bruce said: "I have been an ambassador for the Alzheimer's Society for many years and I am incredibly proud of the work that they do.

"However, I have decided to step down from my role as I want to focus on my work as host of Question Time.

"I would like to thank the Alzheimer's Society for their support and I wish them all the best in the future."

Bruce's decision to step down from her role as an ambassador for the Alzheimer's Society comes at a time when the charity is facing increasing demand for its services.

According to the Alzheimer's Society, there are currently around 850,000 people with dementia in the UK. This number is expected to rise to over 1 million by 2025.

The Alzheimer's Society provides a range of services to people with dementia and their carers, including information and advice, support groups, and respite care.

Bruce's decision to step down from her role as an ambassador for the Alzheimer's Society has been met with sadness by the charity.

In a statement, Alzheimer's Society chief executive officer Kate Lee said: "We are very sad to see Fiona Bruce step down from her role as an ambassador for the Alzheimer's Society.

"Fiona has been a passionate and committed supporter of our work, and she has helped to raise awareness of dementia and the challenges faced by people living with the condition.

"We would like to thank Fiona for her support over the years and we wish her all the best in the future."
